Welcome to the Pawn Shop - Week 8 Waiver Wire

Oh, what a week! The injury madness continues and we are still finding those pieces in the pawn shop that continue to be over looked. We also have a decent sample size at this point, so those sleepers on your roster are still sleeping so at this point it’s time to move on.

The other piece to the puzzle is how to play the wire. Too many times, I hear guys struggling with who to drop. One of my favorite methods to play the wire is to always drop my kicker or my defense. Throughout the week, this gives you the opportunity to work for a 2-1 deal to open the roster spot or make the decision on Sunday with who to drop.

Well, this week in the shop we have some inventory that is worthy of a stash as the bye weeks keep rolling in and we also have some items that can slide right into your weekly lineup. Well, enough with the rambling, let’s get the fun for Week 8.

Ty Montgomery
Now here is a throwback; a duel position eligibility. With the Packers running back situation looking dire, they may have found the fix they need and most importantly, a usable RB which at this point in the fantasy season is golden. With 10 rushes for 66 yards and 9 reception for 60 yards, he has the skill set and the workload as he was one of the few bright spots for the Packers running game this year. With the injuries continuing to pile up, Montgomery is a weekly flex play with great upside. Ty Montgomery is only owned in 20.2% and should be added in all leagues.

Chris Thompson
Well, it seems Matt “Fumbleruski” Jones can’t keep a grip on the ball (and possibly his job). With that said, you could go for the deep stash of Robert Kelley, but I’m going to point you in the direction of the more usable option Chris Thompson. Thompson is already a weekly flex play and if Jones’ role becomes more diminished this would mean an increase in workload. In Week 7, Thompson carried the ball 12 times for 73 yards as well as adding his 7 catches for 40 yards. Thompson is only 14.2% owned and with his week 7 showing that will see an increase.

Ka’Deem Carey
Oh, Ka’Deem “The Dream”, (I love when I make up original nicknames). In all seriousness, the first true gem we found this season, may be losing a chunk of his workload. Carey looked like the more efficient back by a long shot on Thursday, and even the week prior looked good. He has had a few weeks of extra rest with the injuries early in the season. Well, I’m not saying Howard is done but if you are a Howard owner and are running back desperate, he should be rostered to see how the weeks prior to Langford’s return play out. Carey had 10 rushes for 48 yards and 1 catch for 9 yards and will continue to see an increase in work should Howard continue to struggle. Carey is only 1.8% owned and is worthy of a stash on all formats.

Devontae Booker
While CJ Anderson was the lead back to start the season, it seems Booker is getting every opportunity to make this a committee. On MNF, Booker looked far from the rookie we saw fumble his first NFL touch, and has continued to build on the workload increase he’s seen in the past few weeks. While at this point Anderson seems to still be slightly ahead but if Booker continues to impress they will have no choice, but to continue giving him a decent share of the work in the backfield. As I finish tinkering with this waiver wire piece, he has 11 carries for 58 yards and a TD, and was in for another redzone package. Booker is 33.4% owned and should see that number increase substantially Wednesday morning.

Corey Coleman
The news hasn’t been great about his return to practice at this point; he is worthy of a stash on your roster. While there aren’t too many numbers at this point as he’s been recovering from his broken hand, he will return in the next few weeks. He will slot right into a decent in a bad offence which means the ball will be thrown a decent amount and his target share should pick up where it left off. Coleman is owned in 31.1% of leagues and get him now before it’s too late.

Donte Moncrief
I know…another injured WR that is about to comeback. We have seen that Andrew Luck is still great at throwing the football, and Moncrief will help give another solid outlet to one of the best passing QB’s in the game today. Moncrief is still a few weeks away but now is the time to add him if you can. Donte Moncrief is owned in 46% of leagues and if you are lucky enough to be in a league he isn’t owned in, let’s bump that over 50.
