Welcome to the Pawn Shop: Week 7

Well, hopefully you’ve been following along since week 1 and you have some nice pieces on your bench at this point; the best part about working in the Pawn Shop is that this business is never slow. The time has come for names like Tyler Lockett and Tajae Sharpe to come back and get traded in for a newer, shiner and usable toy. At this point, I am beyond giving names that should already be rostered if you’ve been visiting the shop since week 1, so before I show you my favourite inventory I’m going recap some guys that must be owned.

Cole Beasley 44.7% owned

Jamison Crowder 35.6% Owned

Cameron Meredith 33.2% Owned

Chris Thompson 12.5% Owned

Alright, enough with the old stock, on to the new. Lets get into the hot items for Week 7.

Rishard Matthews

With the fall of Tajae Sharpe, we see the rise of a familiar waiver name rearing his head. We may have located a piece outside of Demarco Murray that can be played in our weekly lineups in deeper leagues. He’s coming off of finding the End Zone in 2 straight games. Matthews isn’t going to be that target hog-style receiver, but he will go for chunks of yardage. If the Titans run game can continue working, Matthews should see better opportunities down the field as they keep the defence guessing. Rishard Matthews is only 7.4% owned and has a week 13 bye week to help with byemaggedon in weeks 8-9.

Jacquizz Rodgers

No this is not a typo, or last week’s article. As we find Doug Martin not at practice on Monday, Rodgers becomes and intriguing add, and not just for Martin owners. As each week the likeable options become harder and harder to find, he will still hold value when Martin comes back, which may not be this week. In his lone start of the season, he ripped of 30 carries for 101 yards and 5 receptions for 28 yards.  Coming off the bye week they have the lowly 49ers rush defence. With Jacquizz Rodgers only 29.9% owned, and with Martin still dealing with Soft Tissue Issues. His bye week past those numbers will go up this week.

Jay Ajayi

Well, the Miami offence isn’t pretty and as I said above, neither are some of the options at RB on a weekly basis. With Foster sadly never healthy and Ajayi having a healthy 25 touches that he converted into 204 yards, the Dolphins are going to continue with the hot hand. He was likely dropped by a frustrated owner when he went AWOL in Week 1, now Ajayi has 4 TDs on the season and has shown some bright spots for the struggling Dolphins. Ajayi is owned in 42.5% of leagues and is worth a roster add for RB needy teams.

Hunter Henry

The one to end the streaming, or you can call him the greatest tight end. Well in all seriousness, he is a must start at this point. With the news coming out today that Antonio Gates is still not 100% healthy, paired with Henry having TDs in 3 straight games, Hunter Henry is a must add. His lowest total since becoming the starter in Gates absence was 61 yards and his lowest point total is 7.7 and that included a fumble. Needless to say, he is a solid weekly option even when Gates is in the lineup. Hunter Henry is 49.3% owned, get him while you still can.

Jack Doyle

Yes another tight end. With Dwayne Allen going down and the severity of his injury unknown, Doyle has shown he has the ability to get open and with it looking like only him and TY Hilton are the only passing option healthy enough to be effective. If you are looking to stop streaming, he is another option. Coming off of his 4 receptions for 53 yards and TD, he will continue to improve with the increase in playing time. Doyle is owned 6.9% of leagues and if you are tired of streaming he will be a solid option if Allen misses any time.

Anquan Boldin

Something that comes as no surprise… the Lions have terrible defence, and to stay in games they are going to need to pass the ball. One of the beneficiaries of this passing attack is Boldin. He is not going to put up the largest numbers but has been steady this season and can definitely be a comfortable spot start, depending on the match up during bye weeks. With 3 TDs on the season and no less than 3 receptions, he gets targets week in and week out. The Lions do play the Vikings in week 9 and 12 but the have a great schedule outside of those 2 games. Anquan Boldin is 19.4% owned and is worthy of an add this week.

Well, I hope you enjoy the inventory left waiting for you in week 7. Remember, who you drop is just as important as who you add. As we get deeper into the season, start planning ahead for the bye weeks that are looming. Some of these players you will be adding, will have already add their bye weeks; this is increased value in my opinion.

As always may all your waiver adds turn to gold.
