Week 8 FLAFFL House Previews
Monday Night Football
(5–1) Minnesota Vikings @ (1–6) Chicago Bears 8:30 PM (Est)
Me (A Packers fan), is really going to preview this game? It’s in my blood to loathe these teams, but I’ll do my best.
Ending the half way point of the season, we get another doozey. 1st place in the NFC North VS. last place. Jay Cutler will lead the Bears into Minnesota to take on Sam Bradford and a great Vikings Defense. This is Cutlers first appearance since going down in week 2 against the Eagles. He’s been utterly terrible this season, and has likely played his way out of Chicago for 2017.
For the Bears to come out on top in this one, they need to get there offense going. They rank 25th in rushing and last in points. Averaging less than 16 point per game. I’m not holding my breath that there fortune will turn around this week against a defense that ranks 1st in both fewestyards and points allowed this season. I fully expect the Vikings to win this game, but they desperately need to improve on there offense. Can you remember the last time Minnesota ranked dead last in rushing? Yeah I can’t either. Injuries have ravaged the Minnesota backfield, but they need to get something going if the want to go deep in the post season.
In this. The 111th meeting between these rivals I’m expecting the Vikings to dominate. A better team in almost every aspect of the game, Id be surprised if they don't win by double digits in this one.
The Good: Matt Asiata
With Jerrick Mckinnon out for MNF, Asiata will become a true 3 down running back. Not an overly impressive runner, this is a volume play. Asiata should easily see 20 + touches against a terrible defense. A defense that has allowed over 100 yards rushing per game. Asiata has a great chance to fall into the end-zone in this one. Mid range RB2 for me this week.
The Bad: Alshon Jeffery
Do you regret drafting Alshon in the 2nd/3rd round? I would. Still yet to score a touchdown this season. His drought will continue this week against a Vikings defense that ranks 2nd in fewest fantasy points allowed to opposing wide receivers. The Vikings have allowed just 3 passing touchdowns to WR all year. You have to roll him out there, but expectations must be low. Bottom of the barrel WR2 for me this week, and ROS.
The Ugly: Jordan Howard
I hope you traded Howard when you could. He was amazing in his first two starts. Compiling almost 300 total yards and a score. Since then he has just 62 total yards. He began loosing touches to Carey in week 7. If his lack of production over the past 2 weeks wasn't enough to scare you off. His opponent this week should. The Vikings rank 8th against the run, and have allowed just 1 rushing touchdown to running backs this season. Howard is a low end flex option this week.
