Week 2 DFS Lineup Advice

Wow, Week 1 definitely did not disappoint! The action was crazy and the scores were high. Looking back at the lineup I chose here, it was one of two lineups I cashed with. Unfortunately, I missed on eight other lineups and lost $1.50 for the week.

Oh well, that isn't bad in the grand scheme of things. John Brown and Tyler Boyd killed this lineup and Julio Jones was outdone by teammate Muhammad Sanu.

The worst part about Week 1 is that I had lineups that included Drew Brees and A.J. Green. I had lineups that included Sterling Shepard and Ameer Abdullah. The problem is that my combined lineups had too many duds. I think for Week 2 I am going back to my normal strategy of only four cash game tournaments and one GPP. I got too carried away with the excitement of football returning.

Alright, let's look at Week 2, shall we?

Quarterback
Drew Brees and Derek Carr both did great for me last week. I'm not afraid to go Brees or Carr again in Week 2, but I am heavily considering Eli Manning and Carson Palmer.

Drew Brees - $8,200 (NO @ NYG)
For $100 more than he was in Week 1, Brees is once again the only guy I would pay up for. Last week he threw for four touchdowns and he has the ability to match that performance.

Eli Manning - $7,600 (NYGvs. NO)
I am looking at Eli in most of my lineups this week. Let's face it, the Saints defense is bad again. Eli is priced a little higher than I like, but I am going to pair him with Sterling Shepard in one lineup and Odell Beckham, Jr. in another.

Carson Palmer - $6,900 (ARI vs.TB)

Although Tampa Bay won, they let up a ton of passing yards to the Falcons. With the wide receivers in Arizona and a top pass-catching running back, I love Palmer’s price tag.

Some cheap, cheap options are Josh McCown and Trevor Siemian.

Running Back
A ton of cheaper, pass-catching backs performed well in Week 1. I will look at some again in Week 2

David Johnson - $7,600 (ARI vs.TB)
I know, I'm suggesting the highest costing RB. Anyone can do that, right? Well he is worth it. Give me the pass-catching back who is going up against Tampa. A team that allowed nine catches for 115 yards to the running back position.

Danny Woodhead - $5,200 (SD vs. JAX)

Melvin Gordon looked great in Week 1, but Woodhead looked slightly better. With the loss of Keenan Allen, Woodhead should serve an even bigger role in the passing game.

Shane Vereen - $3,800 (NYG vs. NO)
New Orleans let up some big plays on the ground. They allowed the Raiders to gain 187 combined yards on the ground and three rushing touchdowns to three different backs. Vereen saw similar touches to Rashaad Jennings and has ample opportunity to score this week.

Wide Receiver

Brandin Cooks - $8,000 (NO vs. NYG)

The Giants did a good job stopping Dez Bryant last week, but others like Cole Beasly benefited. Cooks is a different type of receiver than Dez and the Saints look poised to air it out again. At this price, he is worth a look.

Michael Floyd - $5,900 (ARI vs. TB)
Floyd did not do much for me last week, but I am going to pair him with Palmer this week. He dropped a touchdown in Week 1 and had seven targets. I think he comes on strong this week.

Tyrell Williams - $3,700 (SD vs. JAX)
I am not one to jump on a guy who had a big game with only two catches. But with Keenan Allen going down for the year once again, Williams should benefit most. For this price and the matchup, I will take the risk.

Tight End

Travis Kelce - $5,000 (KC @ HOU)

Kelce will be my tight end in most cash games as long as I can afford him. He has a great floor and the ability to score multiple touchdowns.

Julius Thomas - $4,400 (JAX @ SD)
Thomas picked up where he left off last year. In this PPR format he should consistently do well. Kelce had good numbers against San Diego in Week 1 and Thomas should match or surpass them.

Austin Seferian-Jenkins (TB @ ARI)
Here we go again. Last week he caught one pass for 30 yards and a touchdown. At this price point I will gladly take my chances with him again if I need the salary elsewhere.

Week 1 is now done, now on to making some real cash!!
